Ifakara Health Institute (IHI), is headquartered in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam. The Dar es Salaam branch was initially established as a central coordination office, and now hosts the offices of the IHI directorate, including the offices of the Chief Executive Director, Director of Science, Chief Finance and Systems Officer and Chief Human Resources and Administration.

The branch hosts various centralized organs of the institute, including finance and administration services, human resources, procurement, transport and logistics. Additionally the branch is the base for various Research support units including Institutional Review Board (IRB), Data Systems Unit; Knowledge Management and Communications, Grants and Contracts office, Public Engagement and Partnerships team, and Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit.

IHI Bagamoyo Branch

IHI – Bagamoyo Branch was established in 2005 with major focus on clinical trials. The branch is situated in the historical city of Bagamoyo and adjacent to the District Hospital. Its prime location has paved significant positive impact to community by providing support and technical input to the Bagamoyo District Hospital and the peripheral health facilities in the vicinity. The branch in collaboration with district health authorities has managed to rehabilitate Bagamoyo district hospital and the nearby dispensary infrastructures. IHI Bagamoyo Branch is now firmly established as a world–class research site. The branch now hosts malaria vaccine research, various drug trials, TB research, malaria vector research and also research on viruses and antibiotic resistance.

IHI Ifakara Branch

Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) owes its name to its original site in Ifakara Town, a growing town of 60,000 people today. This remains the registered office of IHI. The name Ifakara implies “a place you go to die”, probably because of the high mortality rates historically experienced in this area. Scientists at the Ifakara branch conduct mainly conduct research on biomedical and to a large scale, environmental and ecological studies, but there are also trials of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics, health-systems research, and monitoring and evaluation. The HIV/Aids clinic which is located at the St. Francis Hospital in Ifakara is run in partnership with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute.

The Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) is established under Section 4 of the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Act No. 14 of 2017 as maritime administration to regulate ports, shipping services, maritime environment, safety and security. The Corporation is also mandated to conduct shipping business in the areas of clearing and forwarding, ship tallying, document control and shipping agency.

Section 7(1)(a) of the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Act of 2017 gives exclusive mandate to TASAC to carry out clearing and forwarding functions relating to import and export of minerals, mineral concentrates, machineries, equipment, products and/or extracts related to minerals and petroleum, arms and ammunitions, live animals and Government trophies.
 

1. Role of TASAC
Sections 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the Act stipulate that TASAC is to act as:

(a) a shipping agent;

(b) a regulator of maritime environment, safety and security;

(c) a regulator of maritime transport services; and

(d) a licensor of private shipping agencies.


2. Functions of TASAC in Relation to Shipping Agencies

(a) arranging for the arrival or departure of ships and the provision of port services;

(b) carrying out cargo and ship documentation services;

(c) arranging the provision of services pertaining to crew matters;

(d) arranging the provision of ship stores, supplies and ship repairing;

(e) arranging transhipment services and shipment of overlanded or short-shipped cargo;

(f) arranging container stuffing and de-stuffing services, and warehousing and cargo storage services;

(g) canvassing for cargo and market shipping services on behalf of ship owners, operators or charterers;

(h) attending claims on behalf of ocean carriers for whom a shipping agent acts (Principals);

(i) monitoring tracks and coordinating all activities concerning the movement of full and empty containers;

(j) collecting ocean freight and other moneys from shippers, consignees or other parties on behalf of the Principal;

(k) providing ship tallying services and keeping records of all loaded, discharged, stuffed and de-stuffed cargo items;

(l) providing or arranging for clearing and forwarding of cargo;

(m) supervising the conduct of shipping agents; and

(n) any other functions as the Minister responsible for marine transport (the Minister) may direct.


3. Regulation of Maritime Environment, Safety and Security
With regards to the regulation of the maritime environment and maritime safety and security, TASAC shall:

(a) administer the Merchant Shipping Act 2003;

(b) exercise port state control of all foreign ships and flag state control of ships registered in Mainland Tanzania;

(c) regulate and approve marine services, safety equipment and marine services providers;

(d) regulate ferries;

(e) coordinate maritime search and rescue operations;

(f) regulate and coordinate the protection and preservation of the marine environment;

(g) circulate information and create awareness on matters related to the marine environment, safety, and security; and

(h) perform any other functions as may specified by any written law or as the Minister may direct.


4.Regulation of Maritime Transport Services
With regards to the regulation of maritime transport services, TASAC shall:

(a) establish standards and terms and conditions for the supply of regulated goods and services;

(b) regulate rates and charges including freight rates, currency and bunker adjustment factors and other charges or surcharges in relation to maritime transport services;

(c) issue, renew and cancel licences;

(d) monitor the performance and conduct of regulated service providers and shipping lines;

(e) facilitate the resolution of complaints and disputes;

(f) require all ships loading or discharging cargo in Mainland Tanzania ports to submit to TASAC;

(g) register shippers, shipping agents and clearing and forwarding agents; and

(h) perform any other functions as the Minister may direct.

The establishment of the JKT, was based on the ideas of the TANU Youth League (TANU Youth League), in their General Conference held in Tabora on 25 Aug 62, under the former Secretary General of the Union, not Joseph Nyerere.

On 19 April 63, the Council of Tanganyika under the President of the Republic of Tanganyika and the National Father of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, passed the TANU Youth Union Decision and decided on a single statement to be initiated on JKT on 10 July 1963. The first was trained in the Dar es Salaam camp at a peak of 11 youth from 11 districts.

The early youth were secretaries of youth who were deployed by TANU in Yugoslavia in 1962, taking the leadership training of young people. Some of the young predecessors are Ms. Z. Kiango, Mr. S. Chale, Mr. P. Nyamgarulia, Mr. R. Kamba, Mr. H. Ngalason, Mr J. Ndimugwango, Ms. M. Mhando (Senior Guide), Mr. D. S. Msilu (Master), Mr ES Mwakyambiki (Senior Master) and Mr AI Msonge (Master), Mr LM Mitande.

By August 1963, another group of five people with Mr. S. Desai, Mr. E. Simkone, Mr. J. Mwanimlele (Asst Master) and Mr. A. A Heart (Asst Master) joined and also received leadership training.

During the launch of JKT, Mwalimu Nyerere said JKT's importance is from the State to require youth and youth care to respond to the call to serve their nation for whatever role they need.

Message from PSRS Secretary
The President’s Office, Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is an independent department established by Section 29 (1) of the Public Service CAP 298 as amended by the Act No. 18 of 2007. PSRS was established to facilitate the recruitment process on behalf of the Government. The Amendment Act No.18 of 2007 under section 29 (6) stipulates the functions of the PSRS as follows:

    Search for various professionals with special skills and prepare database for such professionals for easier recruitment;
    Register graduates and professionals for purposes of ease of reference in filling vacant posts,
    Advertise vacant posts occurring in the public service;
    Engage appropriate experts for purposes of conducting interviews;
    Advise employers on various matters related to recruitment; and
    Do any other act or thing which may be directed by the Minister responsible for Public Service.

Human resource is an ankle and significant factor in public service delivery, thus, PSRS has been given a role of recruiting public servants in fair, transparent, and timely manner; while observing and guaranteeing quality and access to all applicants in order to deliver equitable Public Service in Tanzania. Our aim is to improve government public Service on issues concerning recruitment process According to our rules and regulations and at the same time enhance good relations with Our stakeholders.

As we all know that the government motto is to enhance transparency and accountability to the public. In response to challenges facing the Tanzania Police Force, the Government established a Tanzania Police Force Corporation Sole by The Corporation Sole Act No 23 of 1974 through a Government Notice Number 66 published on 29/03/2013. Challenges faced include but not limited to:

Inadequate financing from government coffers adversely affecting operational budgeting.

Dilapidated infrastructure
Acute shortages of decent personnel housing
Inadequate or dire lack of – equipment, related tools, transportation contemporary technology

The Corporation was established mainly to support the Tanzania Police Force (TPF) byway of Conceiving, initiating and establishing innovative income generating programs, projects and activities that are sustainable by utilizing the available resources with minimum or no external stimulus/impact/intervention – that can potentially compromise it’s social obligations/status and constitutional tasks.

    Establishing employee motivational programs and incentives to reinstate self-esteem, professionalism, improved livelihood, efficiency and increased recruitment rates of a dedicated workforce.

In Order To Recruited By Tanzania Police Force, The applicant must be a Tanzanian by birth;
1. Have age from 18 to 25 years old.
2. He graduated with division 4 of 28 points or above.
3. Have not less than 5'3 "height for girls and
5'6 "for boys.
4. Have good health certified by a government practitioner.

No cats (tatoos)
5. Do not have any bad memory records.
6. He is already ready to work anywhere and outside the Tanzania Union republic.
7. Be patient with him too to be creative in order to cope with security challenges.
